The popularity of Animal Massage is on the rise and is a beneficial practice to maintain, improve and rehabilitate the healthy state of mind and body for your animal.
Each animal is provided with an individual massage plan, specific to their current and changing needs. A complete health intake is required to ensure that all of the animal's health concerns have been noted. Each massage session will be fully documented and provided to you for your records. Some pet insurance companies may cover massage fees and may require such documentation.
As your animal's massage professional, my responsibilities may include frequent communication with owners, trainers, veterinarians, and rehabilitation specialists to ensure that the best care is provided for your animal's individual needs. The scope of animal massage is intended to enhance your animal's health and is not an alternative for diagnosis or treatment provided by your veterinarian. In the event that there is a suspected medical need, massage sessions may be postponed until such time as veterinary care has been obtained & subsequent massage sessions approved by your veterinarian.

Massage may increase positive association to exercise by reducing related muscle aches, strains, sprains, & increase strength, flexibility & endurance. As your animal's body enters the senior years, massage may relieve body aches related to aging joints, muscle tension, and illness by promoting increased circulation & fluid movement, aid digestion, strengthen muscle, boost immune system & many more positive benefits. This level of massage is highly recommended to improve the comfort of your furry friends as they embark down their geriatric journey.
Performance Massage - prepare your animal for a physical event such as racing, flyball, or herding. Massage may reduce risk of physical injury, improve muscle strength, improve joint flexibility, improve mental clarity & stimulate the body for achieve the highest level of success. Post-event massage is equally beneficial, providing calming therapy to relax muscles, calm nerves, reduce muscle tension, reduce risk of post-event injuries and help your athlete return to a healthy balance of mind and body.
Also note that an "event" is not only related to a physical surge of energy such as sport, but also a life event, such as upcoming travel, stresses associated with shelter life, change in homes or ownership, a weekend in the show ring, and even whelping. A carefully considered massage plan and regime may reduce anxiety and increase your animal's physical and mental ability to successfully manage such change.
Rehabilitation Massage - This level of massage will only be provided with veterinary approval and instruction/communication.
Prepare your animal for upcoming surgery! This level of massage includes techniques to provide your animal with a healthy immune boost to help them through surgery, which also may serve to reduce recovery time. For post surgery / trauma, this level of massage is offered upon approval by your veterinarian. Continuous communication between owner, trainer, veterinarian, other rehabilitation specialists and animal massage therapist is essential and will ensure that your animal receives the best rehabilitation care through each successive stage of recovery.
This level of massage may also be beneficial animals suffering from and/or recovering from illness.
